But why in India majority of dental practitioners invariably prescribe antibiotics?

May be because legal issues are not relevant here and the patients are also not aware..The doctor can be sued for prescribing a drug which wasnt required..

I feel because of lack of optimal sterilization and infection control protocol in routine dental practice, majority of the dentists in India are prescribing the antibiotics even in though cases where they are not actually indicated

I think it is because of lack of quality CE. Practice degenerates into quackery without regular continuing education inputs. Dentists must regularly expose themselves to quality CE at whatever forums available.
