What are the possible consequences if it is left untreated? Is there a tendency for this lesion to turn into a tumour?

I came across this case in my college…

43 year old female patient.
No relevant present or past medical history.
No relevant family history.
No significant habits.
Caries rate is high.
Patients chief complaint was pain in upper right posterior region which on examination was found because of carious 16.
But what else i noted was a tissue overgrowth on the palate just right to the midline at the junction of hard and soft palate.
It was firm on palpation, absolutely non-tender and of the same colour as that of the adjacent tissue.
Patient doesn’t remember the lesion being changing in size over a period of time.

Well it could be a peripheral fibroma
which is generally a benign lesion
generally caused by chronic irritation, was the pt RPD wearer?
biopsy will give us confirmatory diagnosis
