a practical alternative is to provide both services through one workplace (your clinic) .,,. this is something which i am sure many practitioners practice .,., you measure the paying capacity of the patient coming to you and analyse the need for treatment ,. , many a times there are cases who definitely require dental intervention but it is beyond their paying capacity to afford the same. ,., treat such patients just like your regular one’s and charge as minimal as possible (or dont charge at all) based on your capacity ., ,. i guess 1 free RCT atleast every 10 RCTs is very much affordable for most established practitioners ., .,

the other alternative is devoting certain hours on daily/weekly basis to trust clinics and serving the society for free. ,. , this sounds easy but as your practice grows it becomes difficult to juggle bet ween the 2 and your family commitments. ,,.

i feel the first option is a better alternative ., ..

any more suggestions anyone ? ? ?? even i would like to know of other alternatives to serve the society without hampering my practice much ., .,

But how do we possibly know the paying capacity of the patient? Some of them may have a tendency to bluff..

i guess the paying capacity has to be judged by the practitioner himself rather then believe the patient ., ., most patients tend to show that the treatment is too expensive or them but the practitioner has to make an intelligent guess/judgement of the same ., .,

private practice is very important, but some time when u feel the need of treatment which is nor afforable by the patient then u should be consider the possibilty for doing some charity work and that definately will give u returns.

After 10 patients any dentist can afford to do the 11th one as charity
Some dentists maintain 2 fee charts for the separate class of patients however personally i find that it appears as double standards
Bargaining can ruin a doctors image and may cause patients to take u for granted
Wat we can do is conduct charity for a specific day a week or so keep charges fixed

Charges can be reduced in case a patient is supposed to undergo a bulk of treatment

A charitable practice need not be complete charity..you can charge the patient for the material and the lab charges..

some of the patients who are economicaly very well..do drop to the charitable trust for the treatment….. in order to avoid expensive dental treatment in private practice
