doesnt polyacrylic acid in the gic irritate the pulp?

Modified gic that incorporatespolymerisable monomer and a crosslinking agent..

This type of gic has longer working time, less sensitivity to water contamination.
    Also called HYBRID IONOMER CEMENT

Polymerisable functional groups are incorporated in the cement to impart rapid curing when activated by light or chemicals to overcome drawbacks of conventional gic of moisture sensitivity and low early strength. They may be dual cured if one polymerisation mechanism is use [acid-base reaction can continue its course even after polymerisation] and tri-cured when both light and chemical curing is done.

There is improved translucency due to monomers.Though the fluoride release is same as conventional gic,, tensile strength is better in RMGIC
tooth bond strength is more than that of conventional gic and resin based composites

Microleakage chances with RMGIC is more than conventional due to polymerisation shrinkage.

A layer of calcium hydroxide needs to be given in deep cavities for pulp protection as in conventional gic

Primary purpose of RMGIC is as an intermediate bond material between tooth and composite material called the sandwich technique
This technique retains the desirable qualities of gic and at the same time esthetics of composites.

Are compomers different from resin modified GIC?
